Project: Description:

Adoption of Historical Texas Documents The San Jacinto Chapter #1 of The Sons of the Republic of Texas was given the privilege of adopting the 1836 Draft of the Republic of Texas Constitution, which is held in the archives of the General Land Office. The history of this interesting document has been carefully researched by Mr. Jerry C. Drake, and he has graciously shared his research paper with us. The chapter was also able to adopt an old map known as “Harris County Sketch File 3, Perkins Island - San Jacinto River”, which is an 1857 depiction of the bays, estuaries and islands around the San Jacinto Battleground.

USS Texas (SSN 775) Outstanding Enlisted Submariners Awards The San Jacinto Chapter #1 of The Sons of the Republic of Texas recognized the commissioning into service, by the U.S. Navy, a new submarine named the USS Texas (SSN 775) in 2006.  The San Jacinto Chapter continues to present annual awards to certain outstanding enlisted submariners of the USS Texas.  A committee, chaired by Lewis M. Chandler, was formed to facilitate this project.
