The speaker for the April meeting will be Mr. John L. Nau, III.  He was appointed to the Texas Historical Commission in 1993, was elected chair of the commission in January 1995, and reappointed to the commission as chair in 1999 and again in 2003.  Mr. Nau is president and CEO of Silver Eagle Distributors, L.P.

Nau was appointed as chair of the President's Advisory Council on Historic Preservation by President George W. Bush.  Nau also served on the board of directors of The Civil War Trust.  He is a member of the Texas State History Museum Advisory Committee, the Variety Club of Houston and the Harris County Historical Commission.  He is an advisory board member for the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance and a charter member of the Monticello Cabinet, Charlottesville, Virginia.  He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia.
